Oh yes...on the way back, just got near home and a couple of lads (13 maybe) came along a side path...one of the on a MTB, the other on a Raleigh Banana :blush:
Wahhhh...one said to his mate on the Raleigh, look at that bike (mine)..it's better than yours.
I slowed and chatted with them for a short time..'Yours was alright in its day mate'...it'll go faster than his (the other boy on the MTB)
'Give us £3...and you can have it mate' the boy said

I looked, thought...nah, the wife'll kill me.

Still....£3

Been a good ride, just a couple of miles because of stupid little time.

BUT I was riding along a small hill, hardly anything at all and two large planes came really low and were practising formation (I think), it was good anyway watching them for a few minutes.

31.5 miles in 1:35:59 so 19.55mph average speed.
Feeling good at the moment, average speeds are getting higher, i'm going up hills faster and powering into head winds. Not going down hills faster though:wacko:

It was a Edinburgh Holiday here today so I thought I'd take the opportunity to do a 100 miler. I woke up early but it was bucketing and I could feel a little bit of yesterday's ride so I rolled over and went back to sleep; woke a few hours later and it had changed to drizzle and the legs felt fine, so I quickly got out and done C+ 196 route (from Edinburgh). The Lammermuir hills were tough, and I regretted using my Sirrus and not the drops at this point but on some of the country lanes, which were very muddy it was invaluable. I had the wind behind me coming back  and for the first 13 miles of the A911 I was averaging 25.2mph. Now I've done it I feel great ;), I wish I was off tomorrow.

30.30miles in 1:31:29(i think, remembering right:wacko:) got an average of 19.88mph:biggrin:
Felt really good today, kept the speed up, powered up the hills. Rad surface one one really does annoy me, is slightly bumpy, and when honking up it standing up my back wheel bounces around and spins, annoys the hell out of me.
Just need some warm weather and it will be brilliant:becool:

45 miles just over 3 hours ,got a PB for Box Hill climb ,shaved 37 secs off my time

Just did 44 kilometres with 860 metres climb on realtively quiet roads....until I ran afoul of some very ignorant driving. Clearly, she must have never seen a cyclist before as she had absolutely no idea how to cope with the presence of one. Perhaps they should ban us from the roads as this would be the only way for this particular woman to be able to drive safely.

She was in a landrover on a very quiet country road but despite being a fair way behind me, almost raced to get level. As she did so, the road drops steeply so I took the advantage and let gravity take me down. She dropped back...until a slightly flatter bit which comes immediately before another steep drop on a more narrow section with a sharp bend. It was here she made her move but once ahead, she had to slow right down almost forcing me to stop completely. This was inevitably accompanied by belching blue smoke from the exhaust blowing right in my face. A short distance later, there is a steep but short incline over a bridge at a t-junction and I caught level with her and asked, through the window she had open to allow the inevitable fag smoke to escape, why she'd overtaken on such a narrow section when if she'd had a tiny, tiny bit of patience, it was obvious I'd be going faster than her at that point. The question was totally lost on her and her smile at what she thought was going to be a pleasantry turned to stony-faced silence when she realised I was taking her to task.

Dopey mare. And that's being kind!

18km into Argenton-sur-Creuse to meet up with the FFCT group for an 80ker out onto The Brenne (national park).... but fate struck and I thought my rear hub was borked. So sent them on their way and phoned my wife to come and collect me. Turned out all that had happened was than a mudguard fixing down by the bottom bracket had come loose and was dragging on the tyre

29.5something miles in 1:29:13, 19.7something mph average speed, nice ride.
Had a women in a Honda Jazz try to get past me for the red light. I took great pleasure in going past her, and pulling up infront of her and giving her a big smile. I then saw her down the road after she had floored it past me waiting at some traffic lights in the right turning lane. I loved going past her as i was going left, then she had to go the long way around, past the bus plug and i ended up way ahead of her.
Not so fast today, , but still pretty good:becool:
