My ride today was wet. I got soaked but mainly from below not above courtesy of big, big standing lakes of water on the ground. Lots of rubble and debris washed down the lanes made it tricky and I nearly came a big cropper. It was at exactly the same point I was right behind Olympic bronze medalist, Steven Burke last week and I thought he was either very brave or very foolish going into a very steep downhill blind left-hander at the speed he was going. Had there been a car coming the other way, I wouldn't rate the chances of survival very highly. Well today, at that exact point, I lost control of the rear wheel. I accepted I'd be going down so worked hard at braking to knock off as much speed as I could to reduce the inevitable damage when I was flang off. I was also lucky there was no car coming the other way but with my brain calculating where was the favourable point to make a body/ground interface, I somehow regained control of the rear end and was granted the ability to steer normally again! What a hair-raising experience that was.

Wet. Windy. Wild.

Wet windy, wild - office. STOP. Then fill Panniers with work crap. Wet Wind wild, get to Manchester for meetings.

Wet kit in panniers all day. Home time, dry base, wet windy wild and stinky all the way home.

Wife insisted on talking to me as I was about to get shower, "look I need to shower - I stink" Cue her pegging it....

Since the weather was nice I decided to take a hilly ride to Llandegla and back, a round trip of 108km. The second time this year I’ve wore shorts.

A nice 43 mile round jaunt for me. Down the coast to Whitehead where I parked up at the shore and ate my lunch before heading back to Belfast and home.

A 102km Audax from Wiggington through Shipton, Linton on Ouse, Riply, Brimham Rocks, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Linton on Ouse etc.

A great ride particularly since I managed to cope with the slog up to Brimham Rocks without having to dismount and use my 24" gearing (two feet)

I was back home showered and fed within the time it took me to do the ride the year before last. Woop woop!

A generally pleasant 30ish mile ride, made even nicer by this large round yellowy/orangey thing in the sky :sun:

But why I chose to ride down Deansgate in Manchester City centre on a Saturday afternoon I have no idea

Had more 'incidents' in that short stretch than the whole of the rest of the ride combined
