Forum ride to Jodrell Bank for me today. Wet cold, windy bailed early to get home for the kids...... On the bright side good company, good turnout, good cafe stop and 60 miles. My first ride for over two weeks due to illness. Good fun.

Feeling a bit achy & wobbly after a 50 miler up to and around and back from deepest Hertfordshire. Led by a friend of a friend who I suspect is a certifiable lunatic. I've always thought of myself as pretty much the mutt's nuts on two wheels, but this guy sets a pace where I can only just hang on. Apparently despite a stiff breeze and many surprisingly gnarly uphill sections, we averaged just over 18MPH for the trip. I actually started going numb on one side on the way back - apparently it's sciatica 'and there's nothing much you can do about it'. Terrific.

15 miles, its so hard getting back into it, ive got to MTFU, get my head sorted, it is a struggle...
Still, 15 good miles in moderately blowy conditions didnt seem to slow me down too much, i seemed to have some vim today, so just got to build on that.

As above, but 82 miles for me.
Really enjoyed that, especially passing dan-bo up that hill :giggle:

54k for me - mostly through lanes and villages, except for a foray into Letchworth for breakfast at Morrisons. Bit hilly, which served as a reminder that I've not done a significant ride for nearly four weeks. ..

It wasn't raining today :wahhey: so I sneaked out for a bit of a ride. I did a slight variation on my regular routes down through Condover, Acton Burnell, Cardington, Cressage and back via Wroxeter - a bit over 43 miles in total.

It was bloomin' hard work today as I started off with a south-easterly wind which sneakily turned round to a north-easterly when I was part way round so I had it against me for about 3/4 of the ride. (I checked on the met office site and it wasn't just my imagination).

It was nice to be out though.

40 miles this morning around Longridge and Beacon Fell. Bit hard work on account of the daughter waking up at 4. Thought I was going to get home cold and wet but wound up warm and dry. Win.

Just countryside commuting mileage today, but saw two Barn Owls, one real close, perched on a post as i rounded a corner maybe 6 ft away...mucky looking bugger, not much white on him....and one Yellowhammer.

Commute home was pretty good. Met a couple of roadies, bit faster than me, but it was fun trying to keep up, and felt like a decent work out at the end of it. Even had the energy to cycle up to the sorting office to pick up my new Specialized shoes and clipless pedals!
Had a few clip in and outs in the hall, and think I'm confident enough to use them for commuting tomorrow. :bicycle:
