Oh and I forgot to mention that my mix of aldi, lidl and decathlon cycling kit kept me warm and dry today. Surprised! And my new endura overshoes made my feet feel like two furry bears snuggled under a duvet! Lovely job.

Water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink...apparently  ...ah what the hell, you only get wet once, so overshoes, a non cycling specific cape, winter bike and a big grin on my face and out into it
Just around an hour, didnt actually get too wet, but the gusts out there were occasionally vicious, once blowing me almost off the road as i crossed town bridge, can't have looked very 'in control' as i wobbled to a stop.
3 to 6 foot puddles everywhere, thankfully not too much traffic allowed me to use all the road when neccessary. Fields and everything else are sodden too.

52 miles of rain, puddles, more rain, floods, headwinds, more floods, more wind, and even more rain.

....and ducks has been added to my list of dangerous animals today after a near fatal encounter. Was cycling on the cycle path just after the bridge in Lochwinnoch when a pair of duck ran out in the front of me and almost knocked me into the path of a big bus. The bus too braked like hell too to avoid a head on with me. I missed the ducks with a few inches. If the ducks had hit me, my funeral would have taken place next week.

We don't have lions here in Scotland. But ducks, red deer, sheep and foxes are dangerous enough.

Oh, btw got down to Ayr before the left pedal gave up the ghost and I was left with one pedal. The train back to Paisley became my saviour after 40 miles of 80 planned miles. ***** happens. A good ride anyway. Off to the local bike repair shop tomorrow morning.

Didn't bother - the gusts aren't fun. I'll commute in it tomorrow, but weekends are for fun, and fun it ain't out there.

Well done those getting out today.

Midland Monster Sportive, had signed up for 95 miles but the organisers cut it to the shorter route of 67 due to the conditions on the hills. Very wet, very windy, but got round. Saw no one else in the last 30 miles, zero shelter from the wind at any time in the ride due to diminished numbers so I guess good training.

Well I wasn't actually planning one as it was so grey and wet. Then out of the blue the sun appeared and the wind dropped so squeezed in a quick 16 mile spin.

Not a very organised ride on Saturday, but we had fun.
Took the train from Wrexham to Bidston on the Wirral and kind of found our way home^_^
Not been to that area for years but had read there was an old rail line from West Kirby to Neston cycle path so we headed that way. The original idea was to meet up with route5 around Deeside, head over to Chester then home via country lanes to Wrexham.....but we were too busy chatting and missed lots of turnings:shy: and the gps batteries died so it was hit and miss.
Covered 50+miles I guesstimate, a little chilly, a great day out though. Might do it properly on my own if the weather holds good for Friday
