From home - Snargate Hill - B1363 - Gilling East - Oswaldkirk Bank - B1257 - Sproxton - Helmsley - B1257 - Rievaulx Abbey - Scawton - Hambleton Inn - Sutton Bank - down White Horse Bank - Kilburn - Coxwold - Crayke - back home. 34.24 miles.

Castlegate Cafe in Helmsley, next to the castle, good for bicycle off road parking. The gents loo is first class and actually has a hand drier that doesn't stop until your hands are dry. The menu is extensive and the food is good too.

Weather: Grade F. Soaked but warm with it. Right thumb was numbing so gear changing wasn't very smooth.

I ended up on bastardised 56 miler that included part of the Stanhope route with the Consett route.

A very cold, but lovely trip that was unusually devoid of C2C'ers along the Waskerley Way, in fact I only saw one more bike on the high moors and that was a drop bar of some description (prob crosser), but I was busy picking my route through the icy bits and didn't take a lot of notice of it.

Have you had that magicshine out in heavy rain yet?

Don't hate me but it was a glorious day for a ride here in Somerset. Well, this afternoon was, anyway. :giggle:

Even better than cycling along with my sleeves rolled up, contemplating a return to shorts in the not-too-distant future, was coming home via the country lanes and successfully preventing a boy racer from overtaking me for quite a long time. :wahhey:

Believe it or not, since I bought it I can't recall getting very wet on the commute.

I'm sure it will come though :rain:

Should I anticipate any wet weather problems ?

Wahayyy, a whole 8 miles !!!!!!!!!!
Been down with a virus and chest infection for two weeks, so its probably 2.5 to 3 weeks since ive been on the bike. My ear is still clammed up, all i could hear was my heart thumping as i rode along.

I went on the usual DCC Cafe Run today but two others and me peeled off to go a different way home for a change. With my ride to the start I ended up doing just over 50 miles. We totally cruised at one point with a tail wind but it was very hard work coming back to town but other than the very strong winds (28mph, 45mph gusts) it turned out to be a good day for cycling, mostly dry and bright with only a few showers.

Set off at 5am this morning on a virtual re-run of a ride i did two weeks ago, although this time i used the trek road bike instead of the coyote.
(The coyote is only 2kg heavier, but feels quite "sluggish" compared to the trek ... might be the spinning weight of the wheels?)

Wisbech>wisbech st mary>guyhirn>coates>eastrea>whittlesey>through peterborough using all the cycle routes>over morbourne ridge>oundle then returning via huntingdon>warboys>chatteris, etc
trying to avoid using too many A roads.
Felt quite good when i arrived home, probably because i rode like mary poppins most of the way (average speed 11mph or thereabouts).
Might head out to the northwest tommorow, meaning i'll have a back wind to carry me home wherever i end up.
As i've done 70ish miles today i'll be happy with just 30 tommorow to make a round 100. :becool:

Unfortunately my experience is that the seals are not waterproof despite the manufacturer cclaiming otherwise. There are two ways water can ingress through both the front and back you then need to get the hair dryer out before the light works properly again . Ive sealed the front and back with amalagamating tape and not had a problem since. The easiest way is to seal all of the light but it needs to cool down hence the fin design so opted against this. I just wondered if other MS owners had experienced the same

Fantastic ride home in the wee hours of this morning under a clear January sky, the stars twinkling overhead, hardly a car on the road, incredibly mild for the time of year ... and the day's winds had died down :wahhey:

The only downside was approaching the village and seeing the stars vanish thanks to the light pollution caused by the church's decision to light it up with spotlights all night. :cursing:

Chalenging and interesting Sunday morning Bike ride, 62 miles according to the bike computer, Great ride out to Saddington, through Shilton, WithyBrook, Monks Kirby, Pailton, and Lutterworth with a tail wind. Turned toward Fleckney and it turned into a blustery side wind. Turned through Kilsby towards Countersthorpe into the wind, at times struggling to get the speed into single figures, nearly got blown of the bike turning right across the A5199. The ride home was challenging, after a short period with a tail wind it was a slow slog into the wind most of the way home, where it was a side wind I was needing six foot of road width to go in a straight line, once I was blown onto the grass verge and once nearly had the bike blown from underneath me on a turn. As there was nobody at the Cafe in Countesthorpe I think the Club Ride was abandoned.
