Commuted to Macc over The Wizard, back early afternoon for an appointment near home. Nearly caught by a car trying to overtake on a blind bend, he had to drop back in behind as a car was coming on the other side, to give him his credit he waved apologetically when he finally got past.

73 miles around the Ards peninsula today.

Finally joined my local club last night and I was out with their chain gang. Got dropped on a 3 mile climb at 55 miles so had to complete the climb and the run home into a slight headwind on my own, however, I was still pleased with my final average of 18.6mph. :headshake:

121 miles today to Bridlington. Was eventful, I bonked about half way and was struggling to keep moving, 4% gradient and I was under 10mph, this kept on for about 10-20 miles, I ended up recovering enough to keep a decent speed on the flat, so the last 25-30 miles I kept up 20mph pretty easily. I'm knackered now though, first 100+ of 2010 and since about September 2009, in-between then the longest I've done is around 70 miles

One of the guys with us when through a hidden pot hole, front and rear flat, not only that but newish pro 3 race on the front was a write off, and his rear wheel was a write off, the rim was dented and actually appeared to have snapped and caved in!

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/24588013 17.8mph, pretty good but disappointing, should have been much faster.

wow that was tough, down the a57 out into strines>langsett>holmfirth>holm moss>glossop>snake pass> ladybower> and back up the a57 to home. unlike yesterday there were no mechanicals which was a welcome change, went round the corner in strines where tom boonen crashed in the ToB- damn that hill is steep. On to holmfirth and then up holme moss, where i had some issues with my tense hip flexors and tight lower back , but it did ease again on the way to glossop. Whilst on the road between woodhead resevoir and glossop a man called hamish haynes came flying past (former national road champ) who is apparently still racing for a european team (belgian perhaps) and he was quick , we chased him down but couldn't stay with him as the road turned sky wards again... Quick can of coke in glossop and snake pass was quickly dealt with quite a nice climb in fact, and about half way up who should we see coming back down? you guessed it, that man haynes again, wow! Flew back down the a57 and up the other side into Sheffield, whilst dodging multiple sketchy overtakes on the other side of the road, some drivers really are f*cking a-holes, some motorbikes getting in on the act too  rolled home in the small ring- tired now

62.1 miles @ 14.6mph average with 6000 feet of ascent according to bike hike, not bad eh?

I'm homebound and jealous at the moment
Although the bug has gone, i still feel lacklustre and weak. Lost 1/2 a stone and dont even remotely feel like getting on the bike, but starting to get tetchy off it.
Hopefully soon.....

No morning ride today but a quick couple of hours this afternoon - nice actually as the temp had got above freezing and there was no ice about which makes a change.

Snowdrops a plenty and even a few lambsies about - spring is just around the corner.

Huzzah!!!

Ruddy long corner, though. I only had to do about 10 miles today, swapping something which had been bought in error.

It snowed.

As I'm now "at leisure", I thought I'd check the weather forecast for this week.

Tomorrow - Light Snow
Tuesday - Heavy Snow
Wednesday - Heavy Snow
Thursday - Heavy Snow

Anyone got any jobs they want doing?

Filthy 14 miles to the pub tonight. Mostly grotty dark lanes, full of gravel and potholes. On a particularly mucky narrow part I encountered the evening milk tanker. He pulled in to a gateway and, when I shielded my eyes to see past his headlights, switched on the rear floodlights for me. What a nice man! A couple of hours in the pub discussing and drinking, then 14 miles home under the influence, and the lanes no cleaner. At least the rain mostly held off.

had a good ride today despite getting caught in the sleet/snow without a front mudguard

on holiday this week and trying to get out as often as possible to help condition myself for more commuting.
