Went out with mrs d yesterday (first time she'd been out since new year's day due to weather). Got 500 yards from home, first corner, black ice. I got as far as 'look out, it's ic....before she hit the deck. Bruised, scraped thigh and achy neck but nothing serious thank goodness.
We went home and waited an hour for it to warm up before trying again but enjoyed a very nice 50 mile ride round the (sunny) New Forest in the end.

First real run of the year.
Driving quite deplorable.
Two near things, one was VERY near.
A middle aged "Lady" overtook me with about a foot to spare. I knew she was coming up as I use a miror but it was still frightening. She must have heard me screaming at her and seen my gestures but if she did she did not show it.There isn't an answer. I have been cycling for 50 years and near misses are much more common now.

1st commute of 2010 today 19+mile round trip, god I've got a bit of work to do to get back to where I was fitness wise:ohmy:
No incidents of note bar one car driver who was driving with no lights on despite several flashes from other motorists-totally oblivious til I got along side her and gave a gentle tap on the window to let her know. just glad to be back on the bike, got wet coming home though.
More rainforecast for wed/thurs too:sad:

Should have put your hand out perhaps, given that you could see her coming - she may have noticed? Easier than screaming at someone in a box etc... (Slightly off topic though);)
