I stuck some knobbly tyres on and went out delivering the last of the Christmas presents in the snow. I ended up on the Huddersfield canal through Saddleworth. It was a bit overcast for taking photos but I stopped a couple of times.

I guess I was quite warm as this was what happened when I tried it with flash.

And just a couple of snowy pics to finish with. It took me bloody ages to go not that far really but was excellent.

Went out for a spin in the Kent Countryside having not been on the bike since Christmas Day
And then on to home.. a nice 45 mile run out, my very clean Roubaix now not so clean...
but hold on it is clean, as I just spent another hour cleaning it again for another run out tomorrow.

That looks like a brilliant ride ianrauk (great write up and lovely pics too!) and if I didn't live in the best county in the UK, Oxfordshire, i'd be even more jealous!! ;)

Forgot you had an SMP Ian - hows it going...i just think you ride a bike properly with them !

In my locale' it was ok looking, outside, yet once I got out it was liike an ARCTIC blast...

I done an hour...

I was saying to my Uncle Ray, who came over to visit, that I'd be going for the gym instead..and he agreed with the fact of ice etc...

AND WHAT HAPPENED: I headed east over to st helens' way and it appeared that quite recent to my arrival, the area had a light snow fall which rapidly turned 'clear' and so whilst riding along, down a back road, I was wondering why I could hear 'cracking' then realised that i was riding on ice...then i couldn't 'mount' over a mound of ice and down i went; 2nd time out on new bike & i go down - it wasn't a fast one but what 'hurt' the most was my WET right foot & right leg for the rest of the ride: with cold, in places,...so that was my bloody ride today ! ;)

An hour of an arctic blast...if i start to think heavily about it I'll start crying out of desparity ! ! !

I was just saying', you dont realise what effect this weather has on you...really takes it out on you esp. if you exercise in it !

A fffffffffreeeeeeeezzzing ride today with Arallsopp and Mista Preston of this Parish. Bromley to London and back via Croydon, Mitcham, Morden, Wimbledon, Putney, Fulham. Then along Millbank to Victoria and Hyde Park Corner.. where we wondered if we would see any other FNRttC'ers.. but seeing as it was a Sunday at 11am and not even February, we didn't hold out much hope...

So onwards down the Mall dodging in and out of the pedestrians (Who seemed to be bemused at the sight of Arallsopp's Bent) .. Trafalger Square, Westminster, along the Embankment to London Bridge, Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays, Deptford, Lewisham, Catford, Bromley and home. 60 miles for the day....

A hot Cornish Pasty and a Fish Finger sarnie later... I am just starting to warm up again.

Lovely that was. Arrived home to find jobs mounting up in my absence, foremost of which was 'take this drill back' so didn't even start warming up until just now.

Bike was lovely, having been cleaned AND lubed for the first time in... hmmm.... (sh1t!) 6,500 miles ;)

Not a bad pic that ;) As always a great ride on a Sunday. I got 45 miles all in. Hopefully next time I will be a little quicker !

A little frosty till around 11ish but after that no sign of frost but still ice/icy puddles about, lead for the whole ride too. Unfortunately my wheel sensor froze solid so at the end of the ride it'd recorded a massive 14.9 miles... erm no! Had a general guestimate at 72.5 miles for the entire run, I think a Garmin 500 is going to be purchased at the end of this month.

From the lesson learned on New Years Day I spotted snow and ice still on the garden and road outside so no ride for me and the Lardster today. Still feeling a bit tender from the encounter with the ice, may get on the turbo in the shed tomorrow.

Fish finger sarnie....ooh....not had one of those for ages.... mmmmmmmmmmmm.... fish fingers....

Rode out five miles on shiny white roads this morning, but decided I couldn't ride fast enough to keep properly warm, so turned back. It was easy enough to spin the back wheel with a bit of pressure on the pedals.
