54ft per mile climbing for me. The best bit for me was the first part. Codicote-Hitchin then A600 upto chicksands on a full suspension mtb at an average of 17.78mph. Once i turned into the wind the speed dropped dramatically. The rain started as i headed for home, i stopped to put the waterproof cover on my backpack then carried on through rivers and lakes and after 37 miles arrived back at the stables. After feeding Red i headed home to a total of 40 miles. Hopefully tomorrow will be calmer.

Heh, the way I've been classifying rides since a discussion on RCUK is:
0-5m/km - flat or rolling
5-10m/km - mildly hilly
10-15m/km - hilly
15-20m/km - very hilly
>20m/km - procreateingly hilly
On that basis, my full commute would count as hilly. Today, though, I turned round at Gerrards Cross, just as the "very hilly" Chilterns got going.

met at 8 as usual, only 3 of us there as there was a tri being held. Got asked to help as a marshall. Really encouraging to see the people taking part, especially the kids. the most amazing thing was the bikes - anything with 2 wheels.

nice quick ride working hard out towards Emmaville into a headwind, with a great run back, topped off by a shake at the super strawberry. mmm.::biggrin:

Today I did 32 miles, it was utter bliss, I enjoyed every minute of it ~ and on the roads mostly too which I am so proud of as they were quite busy today

( for those of you who don't know, I am new ( very ) to cycling on the roads  )

70 miles on the 3 speed:smile: Worcester-Herefordshire and Gloucestershire border area, lumpy and very muddy little lanes, managed somehow to avoid the showers that were lurking about.....

Nice to do a club ride after having a few weeks off with 1st a bad back and then a bad case of the snots:sad: but now feeling much better thank you very much:biggrin:

Quick 42km spin round the lanes of leicestershire - great to be out cycling in the sunshine - a rare day before the onset of winter methinks.....

35km on the mountain bike around the lakes in the p****ing rain.

Never been so wet - the positive is the old Orange Five washed up lovely after I'd got home. Guess the damp had washed off all the ground in dirt!

Nice ride in the afternoon on the Cheshire lanes. Took a picturesque short cut through Tatton Park sun setting over the mere, dear in the distance. Lots of cyclists about passed three tandems and a recumbent. Good way to spend an hour or two on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

100km - two laps around a Pocklington, Stamford Bridge and York loop. Perfect weather for cycling and I managed to top up my tan from the autumnal sun

Mind you, you would have had to stop off in many cake shops:laugh:

Nope. Didn't see that many cyclists to be honest. The biggest group was from Clifton Wheelers. Didn't do any cake shops - I was a man with a mission. Woke up late with a hangover at a friend's in Pocklington and spent the first ten miles riding it off before making it a target to finish the ride before sunset.

I think the Gras is back ;). A shade under 33miles at around 19mph average. Sure I had to scrape my self off the floor once I got off the bike but given the wind speed (circa 17-19 steady with gusts around 25mph) it was a damn quick ride.

Also for the idiot who shouted "all the gear, eh?" heading towards Hauxton as I was grinding a 78" gear into a head wind uphill did you even see me coming downhill coming from Orwell towards Cambridge?
