Just got back from a quick 16miles. The Forth Road Bridge was a bit hairy with 21mph wind and 43mph gusts (met office) but with that wind behind me the Muirhouse Parkway (30mph Urban Dual Carriageway) was great. A car went to overtake but couldn't, it was then caught braking the speed limit

Well what a difference pumping the tyres up makes! I have some new Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres and had them at 60psi yesterday. In all that wind it felt like treacle and I struggled to get my average over 12mph for the 20 mile circuit.

Today I put the tyres up to the recommended max (70psi), did a similar route and averaged 13.4 mph (with slightly less wind, admittedly). The bike felt MUCH better, if a slightly rougher ride.

18 miles after work...a bit overloaded with a rucksack and heavy clothes, a bit windy, a bit sluggish after a low mileage winter...i need the summer, the heat, some miles...and time i never seem to have.
Moan over ....nice ride anyway.

For the first time in about 8 trips to Cyprus, i saw loads of roadbike riders..noticeaby around Akrotiri. I felt overwhelmingly jealous :evil:

normal commute today, very cold and nasty headwind this morning.
But this evening... wow... you gotta love the combination of a road bike and a tailwind... fastest time this year for homeward journey.
