A bit off-topic - but have a wee look and I suspect you may forgive me the impertinence? http://blog.wildyorkshire.co.uk/

Those little sketches are exactly the sort of thing I'd like to be able to do. I went on a one-day drawing course last year and discovered I wasn't as useless as I expected but the next course I booked was cancelled so I was frustrated in my attempts.

But I see you're a professional artist so that explains your lovely pictures.

And guess which one has the Blue Tits in there?!! Bless them, they are so brazen, completely ignoring the girls only a few feet away as they fly too and fro feeding their young.
There's a church near us that has a cigarette butt bin like the below on the wall near the main entrance. Every year there's a blue tit nest in there. They must like human company.

I saw this little bird hiding in the trees, being quiet and shy. I am not too sure what it is and I couldn't get any closer to it.

Typical Sparrowhawk tactics, high speed runs, darting around obstacles and surprising their prey. Kestrels don't tend to associate with housing / urban sprawl, they tend to hover and pounce...
I thought the same thing, but it seems as though it may be that this Kestrel has adopted new tactics. I have studied my pictures closer up and the colouring is very much like a female Kestrel with dark outer wings and the tip of the tail dipped in black.

Nice pics. I'd guess female house sparrow.

I also saw this today - a white-tailed sea eagle pouncing on a Fulmar Petrel

Pictures taken by Hebridean Whale Cruises

It was an amazing sight.

The prey landed on the water and was still alive when we left, although I reckon the eagles would have been back for it as it didnae look in the best of health...

Awwww, a dead fox cub at the side of the road this morning, a puppy sized ball of red fur with black ears looking for all the world like it was curled up asleep.

Today I took another detour along the Frome, and I saw a kingfisher flying off, I did hang around for a bit but didn't see him again. How long a stretch of river bank will a kingfisher patrol?
