Whilst cleaning out the bird boxes I found this caterpillar. Looks very healthy esp dor winter, and esp as many are either eggs or chrysalis

at this time of year.

Last Saturday whilst sat outside the Left Luggage Room at Monkseaton Metro station having a couple of halves the wife and I both heard what we were sure was a Ringneck Parakeet calling as it flew along behind the bushes at the other side of the station ~ I only remembered half an hour ago and googled it on 't web. Sure enough, they are living and apparently breeding up there now so we weren't imagining it.

Sunday 5th

Whilst out walking Doris (17 month old Border Terrier)
We were on one of our local walks, & they went from the fields around a derelict stables/coach-house, towards a 'plantation'/large copse
I presume she just thought they were big dogs, as we watched them?

Mountbatten breakwater, a single Great Northern Diver!

There were 4 reported to be on Hooe lake which is just around the corner from Mountbatten. The best I saw was a pair of Little Grebe

And there also was a jackdaw swinging on the feeder tray but that was before I decided to take a camera.

over christmas i got to hand feed some geese at a wildlife sanctuary
very rewarding , if brief, experience have geese peck away at your hand

it must have heard something in the forest at one point

better watch out kitty, we have fox, coyote & owls!
