@Red17 can I ask what part of the world this is please?

I’m not convinced by the suggestion of willow (which of course may well be right) but it puts me in mind of Hornbeam. Are there any brown leaves left on it? Can we have a picture of the leaf litter before it degrades. Hornbeam trunk looks steely grey, but this doesn’t have too much trunk!

I’ve zoomed in a few times but the picture is frustratingly indistinct!

I’m confident that it is a tree.

It's in Croydon, so not tropical, but not sure they are uk native. I'll try to get a photo of the leaf litter next time I'm there

Hornbeam was my other thought but it looks like it’s been cut from close to the base as might occur in a park. Greyish trunk fits. I couldn’t see any leaves beneath it!

Housebound by the weather but entertained by several hundred Fieldfare, some starling and a few redwing in field behind us. Was desperate for them to sit on the wall so I could count them on our green list! Also nice to see Bullfinches on feeder.

I’ve almost got rid of this lurgy but I’m making sure it’s gone before I get on a bike. So I had a dirty Devon day to go birding. I went to Blaxton Meadow on the river Plym. Those of you that know the area it’s just behind Sainsbury’s on Marsh Mills.

Birds seen- little grebe, shelduck, oystercatcher, curlew, redshank, greenshank, dunlin, common sandpiper, black headed gull, wigeon, mallard, goosander and kingfisher..
