Doesn’t it just. Walking through the woods; keeping an eye on puppy - I’d nearly walked past it…..and caught sight of the growth on the side.

It was only when I took a few paces back to capture that growth - I actually then noticed I could see daylight through the trunk 😳

We get plenty of deer around here (central Scotland) but not so many coyote. I went backpacking in the Windriver range, Wyoming a couple of years ago. Heard coyote a few times but could never actually see them.

mailing some marine mammal bones I've collected over the years, from Cape Cod beaches, to Daughter so her 3rd grade students can handle them in person, after some lesson on vertebrae this past week. I also have a complete terrapin shell, top & bottom but I'm not sending that

@Bristolian i went to a concert in Bristol on Saturday night, so I took my camera to stop off on the way and get some starling murmuration at Ham Wall. Nice weather up through Devon, nice weather in Bristol…. Heavy mizzle at the reserves! The kind that soaks you. I didn’t bother in the end.

I had planned to head over to Ham Wall for the murmuration last week but although it was nice and sunny it was flippin' cold so canned the idea and went down the pub instead

Made me a bit sad seeing that pic. Although I live in edge of tiny rural village local cats are very active hunters so very few wildbirds. Saw a jay in my garden a few weeks ago. Saw it again last week - being carried in the mouth of a local cat.

If a cold wet nose is a sign of good health, last night's dog fox should be fine. Sorry for poor pic, I tried to get a still frame from the video. but Microsoft stymied me; their Photos app used to offer a quick and easy editing tool, but MS disabled that to force us to use Clipchamp, which is a PITA. I finally resorted to using my camera to photograph the laptop screen. I'd scattered a few little dog biscuits on the lawn; fox sniffed them and used his nose to push the snow away to reach them.
