@Gillstay makes a good point. Our garden was a blank space until lockdown.

The area that has the bird feeders has an olive tree that we had in a pot. It’s gone off like a rocket and the smaller birds appreciate the cover it gives.

Along the edge of the garden is a mixed hedge that Is 6 years old. This is the main cover for all of the birds.

Occasionally see them when back there, a colourful but rare sighting for me.

Some more colourful ducks from the past. Wigeon.
They winter on the Erme estuary. Less wow than a Mandarin but equally as beautiful.

There come through near Bromyard in the spring and autumn and occasionally stay a while. Always wondered where they were off too.
What was at Saltram ?

@Gillstay its a big old house on the banks of the tidal Plym. It’s now a National Trust property. It’s assumed that they escaped from a collection.

Medium sized hedgehog wandering in the garden 4pm (never seen one here before)

Put down wet cat food and made an undercover bed with cardboard and torn newspaper

Will try to weigh it tomorrow and decide what to do

Totally blacked up and well nigh in invisible.
I hit one, I'm the sucker who is insured and will be pursued by the law.
Bits of Cardiff do feel like the wild west.
