On a general note, much of my cycling is in rural areas and I find the wildlife great but also discouraging. Before a year ago, one stretch of road and you'd always see a buzzard and kestrels, often they fly off along the road in front of you (thanks to the "tunnel" formed by the trees). Then National Grid setup a "temporary" (maybe 8+ months) depot and impacts on wildlife are not a consideration for them and they completely devastated the wildlife in the area. Cycling that stretch of road became disheartening by the complete lack of wildlife you always see before.
And 4'ish months after they packed-up and left and still the area hasn't recovered.
