I stood outside beside a hedge while the kids were doing glitter art, and this little fella popped up literally 3 feet away. He ate a worm , went off into the bushes, came back to the same spot then devoured insects i stirred up in some fallen leaves at my feet.
just a fledgling, or this years clutch, hardly any tail on it

I got soaked at work this morning, so I didn’t bother doing any this afternoon. I went to Aveton Gifford which is along the river Avon. I used the van as a hide along the tidal road.

The swallow pictures are ok, had it been brighter I could have used a faster shutter speed…. I’ll try to go back on a sunny day.

Sadly no camera….

I was out on my bike about 4 this afternoon.

I stopped at a gateway for a pee and had the pleasure of watching a peregrine knocking the stuffing out of a buzzard for a few minutes.

The peregrine was making a big noise ke ke ke ke ke! The buzzard was in no rush to get out of it.

The peregrine would go in for an attack, they would stumble and tussle, then the peregrine would do a high loop and go in feet first again.

Great stuff.

She tried to fly off with it, but found it too heavy and dropped it on the top of a Mahonia. Having worked hard for such a prize, she won't abandon it, surely! Now we need a Goshawk to thin out the Grey Squirrels. Fat chance of that, though!
