Well, @Gillstay has quite rightly pointed out that my rodent knowledge is lacking… I’ve found another weakness!

High Brown Fritillary butterfly.

That’s 2 Sundays in a row that I’ve been to Aish Tor on Dartmoor and not seen one!!! I met a bloke who had, and had the pictures to prove it!

It wasn’t a wasted opportunity, it never is.

Also on the coast path was a Kestrel that was up and down, and the most obliging male Linnet who serenaded me!

A close encounter last night.
I would normally post a 10-second clip, but I can't be bothered to erase my head from all the frames (being a shy, retiring sort of chap) so you'll have to make do with a still.
This youngster was far too interested in his food to be scared of me
