The eastern rosellas are starting to arrive and we have nesting swallows in the chook house.

and the roo's are starting to fight so Spring must be starting (started with another frost mind you!)

Frost in Australia? Strewth that'll save putting the tinnies in the eskie!
2nd day in the new house (this one) we actually had snow. Been dropping down as low as -5C here and some areas much lower.
People forget there are snow fields and very high mountains in Australia. Not that far from here (in Australian terms) there are the snowy mountains and snow field, ski slopes the lot. We are living at an height of 750-800m and yet are not that far from a plain that is also at the height of 700-750m.

Yes, I've ridden up some of the Victorian Alpine mountains a few times, while doing the annual Audax Alpine Classic. For example: Falls Creek (1510m), Mt Buffalo (1400m) and Mt Hotham (1800m). If only "close in Australian terms" wasn't so damned far!
Most of the time, I have to settle for Mt Dandenong, which is only 15km from where I live. I live at 160m elevation, and Mt Dandenong peaks at 633m. Riding up it generally involves about 500m climbing, and there are several routes to choose from. I've spent the last 5 mornings riding up it, in preparation for the French Pyrenees and Alps, doing roughly half the distance and about 40% of the climbing per day, compared to the 7-day tour I'm about to do.
Anyway, enough about not-wildlife, sorry about that, but I like cycling up mountains.

Something a little different... An echidna came wandering through our garden and I was lucky enough to be entering the bedroom at the time to get my 2pm meds, so I got to see it.

No photos, but mid afternoon in our garden in the middle of Bristol, fox wanders in bolds as brass and picks up a rat the cat had caught earlier in the day. The cat usually eats the rodents and birds she catches, although rats tend to get chucked about and left. Fox makes his exit as cat appears, dropping the rat. cat then rather unwisely in my book, follows fox through hole in fence. Hopefully cat will have more sense than to scrap with the fox, and hopefully the fox will return later to tidy up any leftover rats.

Neighbours have reported badgera in the gardens but not seen that yet.

Just to be clear,we're right in town, not out in the 'burbs.
