Not when I was there living in Twickenham, 3 miles could take anything between 10 minutes and an hour.

Takes me 17 minutes to get to the swimming pool 10 miles away any day. 46 for the 26 miles back from Boston, again any day. I doubt that you can say the same for any distance on any day in London.

It's not really comparable. I am within 17 minutes cycling range of at least 5 public pools (and another 1/2 dozen private ones), and within 17 minutes walking range of 2 of the public pools.

Boston would take longer.
