I remember those swimming pools, standing outside at 5am hoping to get the kids into the next swimming lesson sessions.
I don't think that true around here. I just got spam from the council announcing they still had space in swimming lessons. And if it was the case at one pool, I'd still have many others to choose from, at two different councils.

How true...occasionally I will get into London on a Sunday for Monday morning meetings. I had to walk about a mile just to find somewhere open to buy a sandwich(Liverpool St Station). And absolutely no chance of a pint

This was at Feltham pool, which was the nearest to us. Things of course have changed in recent years.
