nope . London uses time more than miles

Not when I was there living in Twickenham, 3 miles could take anything between 10 minutes and an hour.

Takes me 17 minutes to get to the swimming pool 10 miles away any day. 46 for the 26 miles back from Boston, again any day. I doubt that you can say the same for any distance on any day in London.

But only fools drive in London. Tubes or cycling have very predictable times.

Comparing apples and oranges .

Most people when asked how far you live get a time based answer . Nobody cares about distance . The tube prevent born here's having a sense of distance .....

Never heard of a £3 meal deal at Tesco , boots Sainsbury's Waitrose ....
I was trying to be cheeky...
However, London can be expensive even for a day visit. By contrast, I recently visited my sister up north and was surprised to have change when I bought a round. Well, that's 30 years in Bristol for you:laugh:

Distance is measured in time, as in it will take ten minutes to get there, unlike London where it is in miles etc. because you seldom have a clue how long it will take.

there speaks a non Londoner. I have not the foggiest what distance it is to anywhere in London I go to regularly, but have a pretty good idea on time.

from home I am 1 hour max from any central London location. walk 15 min to main line. district line or northern line and free tube, bus, or train.

Correct. But i can walk to a choice of dozens of pubs & restaurants two fantastic cinemas. a great theatre.

I'm 30 min by bike or car to a great selection of country pubs in Surrey.

40 min from Gatwick or Heathrow.

40 min from Eurostar terminal.

10 min walk from wimbledon common, leading to Richmond Park then back village lanes to the Thames towpath.

5 private gyms within 15 min walking distance.

3 lea swimming pools and gyms 5/10 mins by car. two actually easily walkable.

other than travelling out if town and the supermarket, our cars rarely move.

Used to have a garage just up the road from you, even back in 1982 you could not even guess how long the 14 mile drive to work would take.
