It is used disparagingly by people who can't make things work , and who are usually paid lots of money not to so , about those people who can make things work , and are usually paid correspondingly less.

BOGOF. That would be pronounced "bogov" so why do the divs who think it's an amusing acronym pronounce it "bog off"? They could say "buy one get one for free" and that would make everything right but I can't see this happening, can you?

I agree with BFTB but for the reasons you've said. I think it is in the imaginings of the minds of the people that thought it up and an absurd phrase.

one thing that really annoys me is when people speak in abbreviations & expect you to know wtf they are talking about...you know the type, usually a suit, laptop type...they use it as a power trip over you...so I just tell them nicely to do me the courtesy of not being a pratt , at least when they are with me.
