Guys get thrown on bonfires on November 5th as far as I’m concerned, prior to that you can use them to beg for pennies

Guys are very handy for keeping ones tent nice and taut too :okay:

Do you say hello 'people' instead of 'guys' ?

That seems a bit 80's..

'You lot' a tad rude,.

'everyone' comes across a bit grand, or school assembly.

'folks' is a trifle, well 'folksy'

'chaps' although becoming more gender neutral, is still pretty male biased.

'Friends' either over familiar, or Shakespearian.

If we're not going to use guys, what will it be?

Comrades ? Darlings ??

So seems we're stuck with 'guys' atm

its brevity commends it, at least

Smashed.. As in avocado.

When I was a lad, smashed was a state of mind, not the state of a hipsters breakfast.

Good. I got a loooong telling off from (one of my) feminist friends when I wrote to her+male_friend as "guys".

I view it as the current "least worst" noun to use in that situation. But I will use a few other variations whenever it damn well suits me.

What about 'Bidon' instead of plain old easy to understand 'Bottle'.. And don't get me started on 'K' instead of good old traditional miles! If I'm abroad then fine and dandy but in the UK it's bloody miles.. I know it sounds as if you have walked/run or ridden further when bragging to others but you haven't so there. Oh sorry, I got a bit carried away then

ooo get you ...

Remember - its only my opinion -
-
And mine conclusions seem to have varying credibility, very much depending on their nature, and audience.

Your friend may well be far more correct than i - After all - she prob's doesn't spend so much time hanging out with a bunch of unreconstructed blokes

This one will get me into trouble as I know it's used by many in this parish, but it irks me for no real reason, so here we go...

"Running". When referring to what tyres are on your bike. As in:
"What rubber are we all running this winter? I'm running Gatorskin GPs, but I've thought about maybe running something thicker".

Run along... and just "use" tyres rather than running about on them.

Also 'piece' when used in reference to an item of clothing, or kt.

As if appraising an artwork.

Its not a 'piece' you noodle, its a waterproof jacket..#
