This one will get me into trouble as I know it's used by many in this parish, but it irks me for no real reason, so here we go...

"Running". When referring to what tyres are on your bike. As in:
"What rubber are we all running this winter? I'm running Gatorskin GPs, but I've thought about maybe running something thicker".

Run along... and just "use" tyres rather than running about on them.

I think it's an American import, common all over the automotive world.

"This here bad boy's running twin superchargers and stacked mufflers, should be good for a thousand ponies."

"I'm running backup sensors on this car, so should make the Walmart outing a bit easier."

Oh yeah, and ... "bad boy".

Hey nooooow!!! You're insulting my generation. Growing up we called each other dude all the time. Still do. But not in the way you hear them use it in The Big Lebowski. Love that movie. But it's just a movie. I'll forgive you this time. Next time I may not be so generous......

Calm down sweetcheeks, put your purse away.

I never said I didn't like it, nor that I don't use it myself dude ...

I don't know - some folks can be so sensitive

I like dude and dudes - I have a 60yo female colleague who uses it to everyone! It's never caught on at work, but it brings us all great pleasure.

Sadly it falls foul of the same flaws as "guys" [according to my feminist friend]

It does indeed.

Lets have a few years of addressing mixed groups 'Hey chicks' and see how that goes.. :okay:

I would usually associate 'Dudes' with middle aged men who wear leather bracelets, own a camper and say 'no worries' (Richard Hammond comes to mind) :becool:
