Sorry about that Ian. If you'd told me it was you I'd have black gloved you in the kidneys instead of batoning you found the gourd. My how you and I laughed when we realised!

Ha bloody ha
The cop who knocked me off wasn't laughing when he got done for dangerous driving and lying about the incident. And I certainly wasn't laughing when the cops in Sidcup decided to lose the the independent witness statements and try put all the blame on me.
Oh I had the last laugh alright.

Alas, he sounds like an utter tool. If I had a cyclist off be it in my own car or a job car I'd be utterly mortified, even if it wasn't my fault. Sounds like you met a right nob, but there's no shortage of them in The Met. Mighty glad now they never accepted me on transfer.

There's a thread about it on the forum if you want to read about it. Was a few years back, before you joined.

I'll have a search later. I'm genuinely sorry if I caused any upset with my earlier comment. Had I knowable have keep my size 10 away from my mouth.

I got knocked off by a car and summersaulted into the road landing on the back of my neck with enough force to injure my larynx (couldn't speak for 2 weeks, Maz reckoned that was a blessing) If I had been wearing a helmet I would probably be typing this with a stick in my teeth (according to the Doctor in A&E)
Helmets can be dangerous, especially with cameras/lights attached, just ask Michael Schumacher.

Given that people (including some who should know AFAICT) are still arguing whether or not the camera did any damage, I wonder if there's going to be something like a Schumacher's Law about helmets soon, a more specific Godwin's Law.

Cycle helmets aren't allowed for motorcycle wear as some motorcycles tend to go faster than 30mph.

Bizarrely, cycle helmets are not allowed for cycling in some cases as well

The weak and feeble EN1078 required for sale in the UK is banned in many cases
UK Cycling Events:

It is mandatory that all riders wear a safety approved cycling helmet complying with latest ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards.

They do however let people ride in EN1078 helmets - odd that they've not updated their conditions of entry yet. Happily, I don't know what happens if you crash and try to claim off them for a consequential head injury caused by heading a rock (the biggest difference between Snell and EN1078 testing IIRC).

I can't see what they bother. It's not like the SNELL or ANSI/ASTM standards are terribly different. Its like banning Audi drivers but still letting the BMW drivers in,
