Why do people get such strong feelings over electric cars and solar panels etc.

Fisher files for bankruptcy, plus this https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/german-ev-sales-plummet-306-may-compared-year-earlier.

It's OK keep sticking your heads in the sand, EV is not the future

Interesting source:

But, of course, Wikipedia is part of the global conspiracy of silence / far left mouthpiece, etc.

What's not to like about EVs. I've driven over 200,000 miles in our EVs in the last 7-8 years.

My wife's 2019 model 3 is coming upto 100,000 miles, never had a major service or fault.

Fisker, were known to be up against it financially. They never gained enough sales, due to their poor quality and limited production numbers.

I doubt it - it's a niche american brand. I've never seen one in Europe.
It's always going to be hard to compete with the scale of companies like Tesla etc.
Sorry - I meant the link to German EV sales not the collapse of the US Auto maker. Fisker's collapse was inevitable as they used the American model of car manufacture.

Yes. It is all about cost.
In China EV sales are predicted to be close to or overtaking ICE sales this year.

And with 15 minute charge batteries having arrived the trend to smaller cars might just get enhanced.
China is also home to a battery swap alliance, again possibly helping towards smaller is better.

True, but rather surprising given Elon's previous opposition to the idea.

Those will still be a form of EV though, running with electric motors, it is just that the electricity will be produced by hydrogen fuel cells rather than charging batteries from external electricity.

And I'm not sure they ever expect it to be as big a market for cars as their regular EV offerings. I suspect it is more a case of using cars to develop the technology which will then be used more for goods vehicles.

Doing away with the need for external chargers, and controlled charging.
Almost as though they(Tesla) know that they may just lose the court case.

I dunno, I'd be much more inclined to buy a car fueled by hydrogen than with a battery.

And as a bonus, hydrogen can be burned in an ICE with only minor modifications to the engine. The main issue is that the tank and fuel hoses need to be armoured / able to withstand pressure in order to avoid a *BOOM*

EV's come with inconveniences that aren't easily overcome by a lot of people, and introduce inequalities that mean some people will be disadvantaged simply by the wholesale switch to EV's relative to their current position, until those issues are resolved somehow it will continue to be a point of contention for quite some time.
