Hampshire for me. The Meon valley is just up the road with it's super hills. Oh how I miss my birth town of Sheffield

In 4 weeks I'll be venturing further a field when I cycle to Newcastle and back

Usually around Preston / Leyland but try to get to Beacon Fell and Trough of Bowland for longer rides.

I commute between Melbourne and Parkdale (a 28km route) via the beach roads, a very pleasant commute in general. My preferred weekend destinations are typically the mountain ones: Dandenongs, Kinglake, and the higher (but farther) ones.

Yes, sorry, not exactly mentioning UK locations here, but I thought I'd add something different to this thread. Some of you may even recognise the above place-names!

Love it! Especially 'Curry Mallet Post Office'!
While on a site visit (for work) the other day, we had lunch at a place near Garstang (north of Preston, Lancs) that does enormous cakes. The things look like Pop Art i.e. unreal and not to a conventional scale. Think we might swing by there again.

To answer the OP, all around Preston really. Although I am very fond of the Eden Valley too.

Birmingham.
Urgh.
My short routes take me around the city (Bournville / Stirchley / Kings Heath / Moseley) way, avoiding the main roads as much as possible. Or I go through the back roads to Sollihull and back, or up to Blackheath or Clent. Being in the conurbation that is the 'West Midlands' generally equals busy roads wherever you go so it's a bit of a pain.
On longer rides i get out of the city and head down into Warwickshire - about 6 ish miles out you hit the lovely country roads and lanes and nice little towns and villages like Henley in Arden and Dorridge.
