You probably don't care, but everywhere I've lived has had Scots around. Lovely people and they were pro union flag. Only one wasn't but he still wanted to live in Yorkshire because he likes it here so much. Personally I don't want them to leave. If they get the vote and win then it would be a massive big deal but sad for the U.K
Are some of your best friends porridge eaters?

I don't mean to give you a hard time, but when you use language like "porridge eaters", I stop listening to anything else you have to say.

Let's not forget that Ireland, as an island, was part of the UK. Represented in the Union Flag with Saint Patrick's Cross/Saltaire.

Yes,but that was 98 years ago. Changing the subject a bit, i know of people born in England who claim to be Irish. Irish descendants maybe, but being Irish isn't a racial thing. If you're born and brought up in England then you're well er English.😏

Yes and No, Saint Patrick's Cross remains part of the Union Flag, but not part of the union.

More and more that definition is being made by a piece of paper. Wait whilst the 17th of next month.

The Irish are also a lot more County proud than we are.

Hey,so quick to reply. You must've been waiting to jump down my throat!

I suppose your version of Irish history is a little different than mine.
The fact that you are seemingly unaware of the fact that the English have been using Ireland as a political football since 1155 is partly down to the inadequacies of he English education system but, for a man of your generation, mostly down to willful ignorance.

Sick of the southern Irish having a big chip on their shoulder about things that happened many hundreds of years ago. Seriously, why live here if you hate us?

When the Romans settled/invaded Britain there was no border between Scotland and England in fact they didn't exist as separate countries. You could argue that England and Scotland were created by Italians.....
You could also argue that England and Scotland didn't exist at all by those names during that period. Italy didn't exist in 'Roman times' either.:okay:

Some people in this thread have extremely strange ideas about history, colonialism, empire, cultural identity, and the concept of nationhood.
Indeed. They have a similar lack of understanding of history when it comes to "Palestinian" land, preferring instead to regurgitate ill educated media outrage. Leave 'em to it.
