When are you British?

The Red Hand of Ulster is absent.
Not on some of the flags I used to see draped from bedroom windows:whistle:

English by birth. British by passport. Neither proud nor self flagellating about either fact, just who I am. Just the same as any of my colleagues, Latvian, Lithuanian, Spanish, Portugese, Brazilian, etc etc etc. Just the place you were born.
Many western countries have a history that is questionable, the British are no different than the French, Germans, Spanish, Portugese etc. What happened hundreds of years ago is of no consequence to me.

Well, although I am neither English or British , I scored 21 out of 24 in 4'10. I think I will try and find a French one now just to see.
Just to rub it in a bit, my wife also did it and got 18 out of 24 and she is from Yorkshire!

Good post, noticed this at a strong man completion. English men with Union Jack's and the Scotland & Welsh with their own flags. At least some of the Northern Irish are happy to be British.
Scotland will never be allowed to leave. They've had their vote too recently albeit we were in the EU. I think it would be a bad thing for the porridge eaters if they did.
You sir are a tadger.:okay:

Sorry it won't let me edit.

exclaimed in a sarcastic loud southern English accent " you would think we were in a foreign country". The riposte came back from behind the counter "Madam you are in a foreign country". Cue outrage and demands to see the manager and have this person disciplined immediately. The manager strangely was nowhere to be found.
No matter where you go in the world, there will always be a Karen, and she will always be British, sunburnt, and obnoxious, and she will always demand to speak to the manager.

My Sister in Law has lived in Denmark for many years and now has [due to Brexit] a Danish passport. Since she had to sit a fairly rigorous exam she now knows more about Denmark than most Danes.
She says she has given up trying to explain that she is not English but Scottish. British does not even register and is regarded as the same as English.

Interesting: German people tend to understand what Scotland is, and the country is viewed very positively here. On the other hand, I do have to explain about Wales.

You probably don't care, but everywhere I've lived has had Scots around. Lovely people and they were pro union flag. Only one wasn't but he still wanted to live in Yorkshire because he likes it here so much. Personally I don't want them to leave. If they get the vote and win then it would be a massive big deal but sad for the U.K

Scottish mum, English dad, tiny bit of Welsh blood and married to a Brazilian. Happy to be patriotic for the home nation teams at sporting events etc, enjoy knowing where my ancestors came from. Very uncomfortable with the rise of nationalism across Britain though. Where you are born is a matter of luck. Ultimately we are all humans sharing the same planet. Arbitrary lines drawn on maps are not that important to how we should treat one another.
