Yeah we watched that last night; it was worth it just to see that clip from Morse, with a VERY young Roger Allam playing some bit part !!!! :O
Overall I can't believe how much I enjoyed that, purely from watching this last series of Endeavour. I don't think I'd get half as much out of Morse - I'm sure it's good, but there was something about the period setting, and the two main characters were so unusual in a subtle ways ... just loved it.

Allam is an awesome actor. We saw him as Falstaff in Henry IV part 1 at the Globe in London. (Falstaff is effectively the star of part I). He totally stole the show, and was getting a cheer each time he walked on stage from a possibly well refreshed post lunch audience. He conspiratorially hush us a bit like music hall comic Max Miller back in the day, then give his speeches. It was one of those theatre experiences where you think it a privilege to have been part of it

Really good cast, and great setting. I'm aware the Aunt Actress (Helen McCrory) tragically dies whilst filming Series 6 and they had to change it. I also like that the each series is only 6 episodes so it moves at a fair pace without rushing it.

S1 to S4 were really good and, although I tried with S5, it had run out of steam for me.

Love his work on Cabin Pressure on R4 and the series he does with Joanna Lumley too.

Grace binged it in one night, never seen before and was good. Although I am constantly thinking that John Simm is just playing The Master who is pretending to be a policeman!

I had to stop watching Grace because i couldn't bear Simm's daft detective voice any longer. He was also a terrible choice for The Master.

Just started some netflix series called 1899, set on a steamer headed across the Atlantic. Looks good but I haven't got a clue what's going on.

Utter tosh, imo, it was very daft and frankly ridiculous
