Yeah we watched that last night; it was worth it just to see that clip from Morse, with a VERY young Roger Allam playing some bit part !!!! :O
Overall I can't believe how much I enjoyed that, purely from watching this last series of Endeavour. I don't think I'd get half as much out of Morse - I'm sure it's good, but there was something about the period setting, and the two main characters were so unusual in a subtle ways ... just loved it.
Allam is an awesome actor. We saw him as Falstaff in Henry IV part 1 at the Globe in London. (Falstaff is effectively the star of part I). He totally stole the show, and was getting a cheer each time he walked on stage from a possibly well refreshed post lunch audience. He conspiratorially hush us a bit like music hall comic Max Miller back in the day, then give his speeches. It was one of those theatre experiences where you think it a privilege to have been part of it
