The woman playing Karen went over the top in this one. She came across like a Harry Enfield character.
Very much so. She appeared tragic and stupid. She was very much nastier than that in real life.

Craig was much thicker than portrayed. He always wore the same Liverpool away shirt. He was not, as far as we could determine, a predator. He was convicted and immediately released as he had spent longer on remand than the sentence imposed. I drove him in a plain car away from the court to a safe house. I had to persuade him to wear a different shirt hat and glasses.

I've started Aussie series Spartacus again. Soft core porn coupled with outrageous violence, and some pretty decent story lines make it very entertaining. John Hannah clearly had a whale of a time making it.

There's a genuine bit of tragedy associated too as the original Spartacus, Andy Whitfield, died of lymphoma at 39 before the second series could begin filming.
At the time of the incident the media seemed obsessed that the couple were copying some plot out of some TV show (breaking bad?) and yet in the TV portrayal this was never mentioned - was this link to a TV storyline just media nonsense ?
The plot was from Shameless iirc.

There were a couple of fleeting references in the dramatisation to collecting the reward money when it reached a certain level, but Karen's character wasn't made articulate enough. She also referred to Madeleine McCann a couple of times. In reality a number of the protagonists expressed disappointment that the "beautiful princess daughter" wasn't treated the same as Madeleine by the media.

One of my favourite sub plots at the time (before I was posted to Dewsbury) was that Karen was recognised by a local supermarket manager. She was told she could have her week's groceries for free. She promptly rang a friend with a van and loaded her trolley with lager and a flat screen TV. I never took the trouble to find out whether there was any truth in it, so it'll have to remain a rumour.

I know other stuff about what the investigation unearthed that will never reach public ears, but suffice it to say no matter how vile she was portrayed, all of it is justified.

I'm reading reports that the Asian community were massively underrepresented in the TV show, looking at the actual photos it would seem to be the case.
They were. Local private hire drivers offered free lifts to search teams, and joined in without reservation. The three local ward councillors, all called Hussain, were total stalwarts. Community cohesion in Dewsbury West was at times fragile, but overall it was a solid mixed community. Still is.

Watching The West Wing for the second time, brilliant acting, brilliant writing, if you haven't seen it then get off your bike and get in front of a screen and watch it!

Got the box set. Have watched it twice from start to finish.

Just finished Lucifer, got Sneaky Pete lined up but for some reason I started watching a show called Dominion last night. Not really sure about it yet

It get's better - there are so many twists and turns and the first few are setting the scene. Watched the series and looking forward to Season Two !
SS-GB. couldn't really work out what they were saying half of the time, but didn't look very interesting, won't be bothering with part two
Why oh why do they spend a lot of money making a series but with the main character being inaudible?
