Farscape. Just found the first episode again whilst channel surfing. Pick tv is one of the free digi channels I don't normally bother with. I've already seen the whole series on DVD and it remains my favourite of the big 3 modern scifi series (the others naturally enough being Babylon 5 and BSG). It really did get off with a bang, a great sense of wonder, mystery, and menace as well as looking great. Acting and especially the witty script are better than most too.

Forgot to mention the finale of Unforgotten, which I won't spoil if you've not caught up yet, but was darker than a cellar in a cave on the dark side of the moon, and a cracking piece of drama.

And No Offence, which continues to be the finest crafted bit of telly on the box at the minute.

The trailers for Prime Suspect: 1973 look promising, so I really hope it isn't ITV using one of their stand out characters to justify a Life On Mars pastiche.

I've downloaded a load of Jazz concerts from Sky Arts - On Demand.

Who knew the lovely Betty likes Duke Ellington?

Quite extraordinary performances in The Moorside tonight, a sad story, brilliantly played by the cast.

It was a bit hammed in places, and underplayed in others. The Neighbourhood inspector was redeployed at about the time the trial started and I was posted in to replace him. My first few months' work there was to work with the remarkable team which was in place to support the community which was polarising and in danger of turning in on itself, especially during the trial. Julie was every bit as fervent and loyal as portrayed, and if anything she was made to look naive. She wasn't. Rev Kath was an awesome force, and as long as I worked there was a valued partner.

What irritated me is that the location filmed was not Dewsbury Moor or was a scruffy caricature version of it. A massive regeneration project at that time had transformed the housing stock and street scene around Julie and Natalie's houses and it was genuinely a pleasant place with well tended gardens and ped friendly street furniture. The Pathfinder project had some highly committed and influential people working to spend badly needed resources to regenerate. Julie was seen as a highly influential community rep.

Finally, the FLO Christine Freeman was uncannily accurate, if a bit "soft" on TV. Kinch was one of my favourite cops. An old school ex forces plod. Knew everybody in Dews Moor, and was revered, hated, feared and loved in equal measure. His actor was far too neat and polished!!
