I've been binge watching an Irish police series called Hope Street on BBC iplayer. It's quite good.

Not heard of that one , might have to take a gander

What We Do In The Shadows. As bitingly funny as ever.

I see what you did there

Brilliant program (must watch the movie sometime ...). We're only on S4 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_We_Do_in_the_Shadows_(TV_series)#Season_4_(2022) ) - on Freeview.

The story lines have been utterly bonkers so far - even compared to S1-3 - but so far they've worked very well.

(Always worth watching for Matt Berry and Natasia Demetriou alone, IMO. How they keep straight faces, I have no idea! )

Just finished bingeing on Hamish Macbeth on i-player, rewatching for the first time since broadcast in the late 90’s. A great cast and very enjoyable, quite a dark edge at times. Quite a zeitgeist to it, the run up to the Scottish Parliament, the return of the Stone of Destiny, some of the less wholesome aspects of nationalism. Some things have changed a lot in 25 years, some not at all. Hopefully there are still palm trees and Highland coos in the streets of Plockton.

I'd also like to know what they've done! Gimme the gossip

Various people were interviewed. None of them had what I would recognise as a Lewis or Harris accent. Bland mid Scotland mainly. The Free Presbyterian never once mentioned the Sabbath, but Sunday was used. Being brought up in a Free Presbyterian tradition I find this impossible to believe.
I may have missed the Muslim bits but there are enough living in Lewis to support a mosque in Stornoway.
Luskentyre beach empty of people, really? If you had never bern there you could believe it.
The whole thing was heavily edited and IMO gave a false impression of this area.
My wife had family connections in Lewis and we went there often.

Fogle wouldn't know a Scottish island accent if it bit him on the arse.

At the risk of being too political, both were opposed to Scottish independence.

Fogle also has an axe to grind against the BBC for weird reasons.

Oliver, a particularly vocal opponent, is spouting his nonsense on GB News these days (including misinformation about climate change amongst other conspiracy theories).

Fogle isn’t Scottish, so not very surprising about his view.
Oliver is beyond salvation.
