Certainly back to form. Last few seasons have been dire - enough for me not to watch.

I hope so... i gave up watching regularly halfway through Matt Smith's run. I liked him as The doctor but the stories were well below par. dipped in occasionally since then but been very impressed... so i shall give these a try, but I'm not keen on how they've shoe horned David Tennant briefly back into the role. I was getting tired of him the first time round.

I always enjoyed Jody Whitaker's Doctor even if she was given nonsense to work with, I hope they bring her back someday under better circumstances.

Dr Who - The Giggle

Fantastic! Theres shades of Q from Star Trek in this for me, though being picky Q came after the villain in this. It started a bit ropey for me but I was wrong to doubt it and it came together strong in the 2nd and 3rd acts. The Dr will return at Christmas which is only 3 weeks off woop!
Of course - THAT'S who this reminded me of!!!

Another good episode* ... will Christmas bring the miracle of 3 good-ies in a row?!?

*am I allowed to ask why the new guy doesn't wear any trousers?

I wondered the same but look carefully at them both, between them they have a full set of clothes. Its something to do with what happens to the Doctor at the end :okay:

Neil Patrick Harris was great in this and I liked that he was only defeated, not killed, so there is scope for him coming back. Plus of course that little scene with the tooth at the end. Christmas should be fun I think as while I haven't heard of Ncuti Gatwa before I liked his energy coming into it.:okay:

I'm going to give myself some credit here, as I did suspect that ... but they seemed to have a good long-sleeved shirt each, so I wasn't sure.
Interesting that it wasn't Tennant that ended-up improperly dressed, and that no-one commented on the debagged element :P

Anyway, it's all a bit of fun. And I did notice the tooth hint!
We re-watched the William Hartnell / Verity Lambert film at the weekend too - it was made in 2013, but they made a leeedle tweek to it before showing it this month ;-) Recommended! https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/spacetime/raine

Enjoyed S1 but S2 is a damp squib.

Suranne Jones works for me as a sleuth (although the occasional smile would be nice) but Dougray Scott is miscast as a very senior military officer who displays no gravitas or bearing whatsoever.

Being the BBC we now have 2 LGBT+ plot lines instead of the 1 in the first series, neither of which add to the storyline.

PTSD is thrown into the mix too, again it adds nothing.

Some hilarious spoofy tech' moments too eg close-by bomb blast floors 4 or 5 of the cast who rise simultaneously from the floor and simply brush themselves down and a bullet (being inspected as evidence) from a close range shot from a "high powered hunting rifle" barely penetrates & protrudes from a tree - I think not on both counts. Okay, it's BBC prime-time viewing and R rated graphical scenes are not the order of the day but come on, don't treat viewers like children.

3/10, could've been as good as S1 but an opportunity missed.

Agree, we watched S2 (the first 3 episodes) last night. S1 was much better, possibly because in the Sub it was much more confined. The season 2 plot just seems too wide open and futile, considering what she is working against. And the whole international thing carries too much scope for what was a very one-character-based idea.
