Watched an episode of Rising Damp, the one where he's trying to entice Miss Jones with a piece of 'Love Wood' - so funny.
Trouble is, had the lurgi these last few days, and been couching so much I ache now.
Laughing at Rigsby was good medicine in a way, but painful at the same time.
Hope a few more pop up on the recommended menu :okay:

Ideal (Johhny Vegas Sitcom)

This is from the 2005-2011 and was one of the best shows on BBC3 when that channel started, its mostly a sitcom but has some very surreal moments and some very poignant ones. Its known for its popularity with guest actors and had some big names over the years.

I've jumped in on Series 4 as I've watched the first 3 a lot and never finished it, it does feature a lot of weed smoking and was perhaps unfavourably compared with a Sky series called Top Buzzer that was much more of a straight comedy. Oh and the soundtrack is amazing and features a lot of up and coming bands of the time - I bought the OST a while back.

It unfortunately got cancelled at its most popular which is maybe why I never finished it but I'm loving it again and though Series 4 just finished with a very sad moment I knew was coming, hopefully things get better for Moz (Johnny Vegas).

I remember that episode from back in the day. That was a fantastic series all round, and perhaps the only truly great sitcom ITV did

There was a lovely coda in either the last episode or maybe the spin off film where Philip finally owns up to Rigsby that he's not really an African prince but from London and Rigsby says something like "You don't know that. When your ancestor was taken from Africa he might have been a prince. I think your a prince"

I always thought Rigsby, for all his seediness and racist comments is still a basically decent man who rather admires the two students with all the possibilities in front of them, whilst life has rather passed him by and his best days are behind him

Excellent summary Mr. Prof.
I'm halfway through this Rising Damp documentary, well worth a look if you haven't already seen.

have watched that and it is indeed excellent. It was nice to see Don Warrington as "President of the UK" in the alternative Earth Doctor Who episode with Cybermen and Zepelins. His trademark gravitas and dignity was perfect for the role. Not seen him on TV much since the days of Rising Damp, but I gather he's has a very successful stage career so not been short of work

Yes we watched 1st episode last night. Very good, quite a quirky style, like a mix of Tarantino and Fargo.

Also enjoying Three Little Birds on ITV X

Pulled double last night to finish Boat Story - excellent throughout I thouht, one of the most original things on BBC for a while.

may do same for TLBs and then what?

I saw Vigil is has a new series coming soon, Payback and The Couple Next Door also looked worth watching

Enjoyed Boat Story. Now started watching Game of Thrones. That's going to be a long time watching as we only usually manage 3 or 4 episodes a week. Any new TV shows will have to sit on our watchlist now until GoT is finished!

GoTs magnificent, try and avoid any complaints you might still see about it as character decisions don't have to make sense so long as it entertains and it does. I will say the first few seasons have a lot of nuddy business in them compared to later - they did used to hire nude models and adult actors for those and it shows. Also Series 1 has a very small low budget feel (but not cheap) to it, almost like something our own BBC might have produced.

Also, and this will be a long time coming for you by the sound of it, House of the Dragon the prequal series is even better.

When we were watching GoT we used to pre-judge how 'exciting' each episode would be by the number of warning at the start!

Ah loved GOT. I've done the tours from Belfast too and they were fantastic too, great to see Winterfell etc.

I've started Succession. Enjoying that - I can see why people went on so much about it.

Dr Who - Wild Blue Yonder

The second of David Tennant's 3 specials as he enjoys his second run at the Doctor. I think I preferred this to his 1st one (The Star Beast) last week. Without giving much away it gives him and Catherine Tate (as Donna) the spotlight, its an enjoyable 'peril' driven episode, almost horror like in it's execution.
