The Gone... an Irish cop goes to NZ to investigate the disappearance of two Irish tourists. Slightly annoying because it's got loads of 'realistic' mumbling that seems to be trendy these days, so subtitles were on most of the time. Doubly annoying that the finale ended on a cliff-hanger so I'll have to wait for a 2nd series to find out whodunnit... which i may or may not bother with.

Exposed - The Ghost Train Fire (Netflix): 3 part documenatry about the Luna park (Sydney) tragedy in 1979. What seemed to be a tragic loss of 7 lives soon turns into something much more sinister. Very sad for the families involved but a very intriguing watch.

The acting and script writing is very realistic, but the subject matter is very bleak, so we're watching with a few days break inbetween episodes.

Yes it is. Quite interesting (with respect to all the victims of course) that this looked to me like a turning point from "we don't need to lock our doors" to "don't go out alone if you're a woman". very sad

Anyone watched The Peripheral? Thoughts (but no spoilers please)

Yes - really loved it - well thought out and very good effects and characters

Season 2 is cancelled due to pandemic or strike of something
which is a damn shame - to be rated just below Firefly !!!

still worth watching Season 1 - I intend to give it another watch when I finish a couple of other things

Yes - the investigation was very critical of a lot of things
The attitude of the senior officer towards women in general was horrendous
and if they were also "no better than they ought to be" then they were just ignored - even if they were survivors and saw him

One of the final scenes was of a wall with all the photofits - and the real arrest photo

that said it all

It seems to have marked the start of a change - but a change that was VERY slow and laborious when it didn;t need to be
and a change that is still not complete as can be seen from some of the recent problems in the Met - and I am sure other forces have similar problems

There was also a lot of criticism of the attitude of senior officers - senior officer considered their word to be the "Word of God"
and no matter what they said or did it was to be protected from criticism at ALL costs
something we also saw at Hillsborough

Things have changed massively - but still need to go forward
something that we also

I'm watching the new series of Shetland and enjoying it. There are one or two moments of great comedy amongst the seriousness of all the rest of it.
What I didn't realise until this week was that all the previous series of Shetland are on BBC iPlayer, so I may be going back over them. I didn't see many of them when first broadcast.....

Watched Louis Theroux interviewing Pete Doherty....love Louis and Doherty.
Really hope Doherty stays on the straight and narrow...such a talent who's been haunted by addictions.
