I've just discovered that every episode of Miami Vice is on Prime, by my reckoning that's around 110 in total.

I enjoyed it first time round, but only watched the 2nd and 3rd series, so this time I'm doing the lot, I've watched 8 episodes so far.

It's not as good as I remembered!

That all depends on how good your memory is, or how rose tinted your glasses are.

A programme where a vice detective drives a Ferrari, lives on a yacht, also has a flash speedboat, and keeps a pet alligator called Elvis, is never going to be anything more than entertaining nonsense.

But it was ENORMOUSLY STYLISH nonsense. The visual production was unique at the time. Probably doesn't look it, 30 years on, oh well ..

No Escape (Paramount+). Only a few episodes in but it's quite gripping. A group of backpackers on a yacht; it's all fun and parties until something goes awry

Earth with Chris Packham was enjoyable.

My guilty pleasure at the moment are repeats of Are You Being Served?. Aaah....childhood memories, enjoy the running gags like the...I'm free, are you free?' routine...'Glass of water for Mr Grainger', the malfunctioning rude shop displays and of course, Mrs Slocombe's pussy ^_^, which must rank alongside 'Dave' from Only Fools as one of the longest running gags on TV. Makes me feel old though, some younger staff at work only know Wendy Richards from EastEnders, they've never seen AYBS. Once met the show's writer/creator Jeremy Lloyd.

Don't know if there's a specific reason, but Auntie are running looooots of old "classic" comedy now. I watched the first "Alas Smith and Jones" with some trepidation .... and to be honest, it wasn't bad! I laughed several times. Not as radical as NT9oCN, but some good stuff in there.

Repeats of Classic Causalty on 'Drama'. It's still the early days (about 1989) when it was actually interesting and a bit gory.

We watched it all as kids and sometimes with a family friend who was a Doctor, so we got a bit of commentary at times!
We bloody loved it! 😆

My only regret is I only caught it from 1988 onwards and not '86 or whenever it started.
Is Nurse Megan Roach about to get the chop for speaking up about the state of the department? We'll have to see!

I recently stumbled across a rerun of The Alan Clark Diaries on London Live. John Hurt on top form as the philandering old rogue, with great support from Jenny Agutter and other top talent from tv of the era, all making the most of a sparkling script adapted from the originals.

"I can never really enjoy a carol service unless I am having an illicit affair with one of the congregation. I wonder why."

Wonderful stuff.

I might have to pick out a few episodes I remember to watch again, some specials others just normal -

  • Airplane Crash - Think it lost flaps and landed to quickly and skidded off end of runway
  • Daddy Big and Daddy Little - I was a bit too young to really understand it at the time but it was about child abuse and I think I'd understand it better now
  • Grafiti Broken Arm - Bit of a love triangle where 2 grafiti artists are competing for a girl, and one of them ends up falling from a bridge
  • Boat Blow Up - Theres a fire/explosion on a pleasure boat, involved an early sighting of a car phone which I found quite interesting
I'm into Classic Corrie myself, its funny watching it back and realising actors with minor roles later often come back as someone else in a a bigger role. Maureen Lipman was a very funny wanabe landlady for a few episodes years before she comes back as a completely different person.

I remember the spin-off of AYBS, "Grace and Favour". At the time I thought it was very funny, it was only after that that I watched the original AYBS. Good British comedy
