Much to my surprise (as it's not, as a rule, my kinda thang) I'm enjoying Virgin River.

It's called a 'romantic drama' but it's certainly not of the icky, gooey romance type that can have me reaching for the barf bag. No, there's a healthy amount of realistic character behaviour. I'm find it surprisingly engaging (even if the story-line sometimes strains credibility) as there are a number of fleshed-out, real characters all with their own stories that intrigue. Gosh, I'm making it sound like Camberwick Green!

It's based on a series of novels, perhaps that's why it seems fuller than you're average light entertainment TV!

Edit: nah, forget it. It started out ok but descended into dross by the end of series 1.

I think I ditched it in Series 1 - just not that appealing and grey.
Series one was poor... but i seem to recall they'd filmed on mostly sunny days. Maybe Morecambe really is that drab.
Funny how we all like different things. I binge watched the entire second series the other night and enjoyed it.
The second series was a lot better than the first, and IMO, the third.

It is good.

But I am afraid season 4 (and the final season) is going to let me down, dunno why. Starts on the 22nd of this month I think.

I was expecting good things with the cast but it felt corny and over acted?

A rerun of 'Secret Army' on Talking Pictures TV. I've only just realized that 'Allo 'Allo was a parody of it. Both feature a philandering cafe owner, a bed-ridden invalid and other similar characters.

Tonight's episode featured somebody making a call from a phone box with a 1970's phone in it!

I mostly can’t be bothered watching telly. Not by myself, at least.

Recent stuff shared with the gf:
After Life series 3 - lovely funny tear jerking stuff from Ricky Gervais.
Cobra Kai series 4(?) - cheesy, very cheesy but, good fun, cheesy and innocent good guys keep joining the bad guys over and over again!
Shared with ten year old son: Boba Fett - not as good as Mando but it’s a Pap n boy thing we have after the swimming.

I’d watch more with the gf but she consumes at a much higher rate than me. She’s night after night two three or four episodes each sitting. I’m more like… I watch a couple of episodes of a series I like one day of a weekend.

I watched the first series of Richard Hammond's Workshop the other night. Very good I thought. Yes there are parts that have clearly been set-up so that Hammond makes poor decisions and the mechanics tell him off (much like Clarkson's Farm) but interesting to see how much time and money goes into various things. The other cast are very likeable and down to earth.

I only watched it because I paid for Discovery+ for a month so I could watch some of the Australian Open
