I'm 3 episodes into The Tourist, its slightly quirky, occasionally weird, but quite gripping and some brilliant offbeat black humour in some of the characters / situations. Sometimes you think you might be watching a spoof. Slightly Fargo-esque.

I almost wet myself at the tortoise follow up in episode 3, which will only make sense if your watched it, and doesn't spoil it if you haven't.

The best Doctor Who episode in quite some time. Recent Doctors have been let down by varying script quality which has on occasion been poor and overly reliant on Daleks and Cybermen but hopefully this shows a turning of the tide.
Still not sure about the tend of casting so many comedians though - is there a shortage of actors?
I'm still ploughing through the Flux. Not a clue what's happening. I much preferred the simple plots when I was a kid.

I did see Toast of Tinseltown last night. Great show and reminds me that I'm also loving What We Do In The Shadows.

Watching The Stranger on Netflix , itā€™s not bad. Twists and turns !

Stay Close is another I need to watch but Iā€™ll need to do it on my own as the Mrs and my son have jumped ahead and finished it !

Finished Stay Close last night... it's one of those; gripping, must watch next episode... but by the end, why did i bother? Yet another bog standard crime drama with some very wooden acting. On the upside, at least i don't have eyebrows like James Nesbit's... do they have their own agent?

I watched the first couple of episodes of Stay Close...mainly because of the filming locations ! But given up on it.
Binge watched the Tourist which we liked.Thought it had the dark humour/violence just about right.

...
TBH, it was the locations in Morecambe that inspired me to watch it in the first place. You do right to give up.

Regarding the locations... why did they bother filming in both Blackpool and Morecambe? Both look pretty much the same and are the same place in the series... but moving the cast and crew some 50 miles just for a few insignificant shots seems like a magnificent waste of time with no real benefit. They also shot the bridge in Runcorn, 50 miles in the other direction, and 'the big head' near St Helens... but they're significant looking landmarks... They used nothing in Morecambe to justify being there, not even the view across the bay

These Harlan Coben adaptations intrigue me. Why all filmed in the North West ? He's an American writer ? Maybe it's a local producer. Must admit that when you recognize the locations and they don't make sense geographically in the show it takes away from the drama for me.

The apartment on the seafront looked ok šŸ™„
Saw them filming in Blackpool ony way to work a few times.Nesbit actually went out to the pubs a couple of times šŸ˜
I guess it's good for the towns as long as there not shown in too negative ways.
Cheap locations to film in aswell I guess.

I don't mind that scenes don't 'geographically connect'... that's the magic of television  Remember the comments on here when Happy Valley was being aired? ...but the Morecambe shots in Stay Close were so insignificant, why did they bother?
