Landscapers on sky or Now TV is excellent. Olivia Colman stars in a true story that I'd not heard of before.

I'm also watching Wheel of Time on Amazon which is meant to be a rival to Game of Thrones. It's not so far but it's early days.

I love Star Trek, but I can’t get excited about Discovery. I find it boring. And I can’t get past the fact that the ‘Klingons’ don’t look like Klingons.

I'm a fan of Todd Haynes' work as a rule but I'm not yet sure what to make of this. The plot is niggling me with questions that I really oughtn't care about, never a good sign. It usually means the narrative isn't holding me.

Edit: having now seen the final 2 parts, when some plot niggles were ironed out, the whole thing came together. Perhaps confusingly, the heart of the story didn't take centre stage until late in the day; though it had, in fairness, been bubbling away in the background and growing in significance with each passing moment. It won't make in my top 10 but it was well acted and very well made; I do like the aesthetic of Haynes' work.

This year's Royal Institution Xmas lecture series is particularly topical and fronted by JVT - "Professor Jonathan Van-Tam takes a deep dive into the fascinating and varied world of viruses. He aims to show how public health measures, combined with ground-breaking science, will have an impact far beyond Covid-19, including breakthroughs that could help fight other infectious diseases, genetic disorders and even cancer."
First leg this evening, kick off 8pm.

Only Murders In The Building is excellent light tele, watch it. Some brilliant throwaway dialogue and clever understated gags, well played throughout with a mild spoof of whodunnits. Don't be fooled, there's a lot gone into making this. Watch and be rewarded.

Edit: ought mention; created, written and starring Steve Martin - just to establish its comedy credentials (restrained Martin, no manic zaniness)
