Watched the first episode of the much hyped and rather promising looking Billions.
Didn't rate it at all, far too much posturing and posing, along with some terrible dialogue so I won't be tuning in again.

The finale of The Five however was excellent and is amongst the best telly I've seen this year - catch it on catch up while you can.

Gotham also continues to excel despite being tucked away on Channel 5, giving it a far smaller audience than it deserves.

A final work for Cycling with Filippa on the Bike Channel - unintentionally hilarious dubbing into English makes this low budget travelogue show a rare treat. If you haven't seen it you don't know what you're missing... (Episodes on tomorrow - Thurs - at 09:00, 15:00 and 21:00)

The five started out well, got a bit dull, had a few episodes which i felt were bollox and managed to wrap itself up excellently... all in all, a great series.

I've just caught up with the final episode because I was away at the weekend. I thought the series started out really well, but in the end the plot was ludicrous and full of holes (no spoilers in case others haven't seen it yet). I hated the way they've set us up for a second series as well. Very disappointing.

in fairness i watched it all in one go..but yes id agree ,lots of holes but it passed a few hrs.
i found Marchela similar..in that it would never happen but i tend to just go with it as the thought of Eastenders would result in suicide:laugh:

Tv is in spring mode...winter usually time for the good stuff

A stupid and pointless comparison.

If more people are watching a repeat of Bargain Hunt than one of the BBC's flagship programmes, then you have to wonder if there's something wrong somewhere.
Ok, I'll elaborate.

It's not a fair comparison as it isn't like for like. The Bargain Hunt repeat was in the middle of the day when televisions all over the nation are turned on to mindless background drivel. Peaky Blinders is a fairly niche drama show on late at night with a far more narrow appeal. It's also the kind of thing that people are likely to watch on demand rather than live so the figures aren't reflective of the actual viewers.

So yes, it's a stupid and pointless comparison.
I think it's also due to the fact that Peaky Blinders series 3 has got so ludicrous it's disappeared up its own bottom.
I've only watched the first episode so I don't know what's going on yet. Incidentally, it had the second highest viewing figures of any episode (2.95m), only behind the very first.

From what I've read the figures dropped by 300,000 to the second episode which would put the figures on a par with the other two series.

So, not only is it a daft comparison to make its not quite the story it's being made out to be.
The BBC viewing figures are based on people actually watching the programme for more than 15 minutes, on live TV, and on demand/catch up services like iPlayer, so the figures are like for like in that more people apparently actively watched a repeat of Bargain Hunt than watched Peaky Blinders. Which is pretty sad.
The figures might be, fair enough. Be interesting to see the demographics.

Just finished The Bridge III - 9/10

Best of all of them so far, mostly because there's a lot more focus on the characters and their lives than sensational crimes. The lead character is one of my favourites - flawed and brilliantly human.

Set up nicely for a fourth series too.

Father Ted - The Mainland Episode, The Victor Meldrew one.

I don't think I will ever get tired of this series.

Shame that there will only ever be these six episodes, but a very good series from back when BBC Three was not online only.

No Such Thing as the News (iplayer)
Telle version of the excellent "No Such Thing as a Fish" podcast. I think they could do a bit more with the visual format, but if you like one, you'll like the other.

Cricket on 5 (freeview)
A good result for England, and I love Phase 5's theme tune.

The Hollow Crown: Richard III (iPlayer) - splendid.

Locked Up (All4 Player) - Channel 4's new Walter Presents boxset. Framed lady goes to prison. Quite gripping so far, with some good characters (3 episodes in at this point).

Orphan Black S4 (Netflix) - Another couple of episodes of the new series - 4 and 5, IIRC.
