63 mph on a mountain bike that cost me about £120, holding onto the door of my mates silver Metro, i was completely blind from the wind and i nearly killed myself when the road ended in a T-junction which i couldnt stop at.
I've done 99mph on Coolsingel , the main drag in Rotterdam.
That's what it said on my utterly reliable wireless Cateye as I waited at a junction for the lights to change, I've never been able to replicate that performance.
You win. My computer is currently showing a max speed of 98.8mph. And an average speed of 10.4 mph but as it goes down whenever I get off the bike I've no idea what speed I'm averaging now.
But do you really want to be concentrating on a small LCD screen whilst travelling nearly 50mph? I just look at my max speed on Strava after I have finished the ride. Enjoy the descent rather than worrying about how fast you're going!
Thanks, just pop my prize in the post.
I was obviously picking up a bit of radio interference from some nearby street furniture, but apart from that one momentary blip the Cateye has behaved impeccably for over 10 years now.
