Much of today was spent trying, swearing and trying again, or as we put it in social work, "completing several learning experiences" setting the Magura rim brakes on this classic Specialised full suspension bike. Having seen how much classic specialised bikes can command online, I also decided it was worth changing the chain and freehub.

Some Drama this afternoon. I came back with the intention of mending a broken spoke on my sons Gary Fisher. And cut a long story short it was stolen this morning. It only cost us £15 but it was a useful bike to go in and out of Oxford on without worrying too much about it.

The good news is that I visited our local bike charity who I do some volunteering for and they had a very sorry looking near identical bike which they gave to my son.

some elbow grease and some general lubrication and it looks and rides really well!

We also picked up this old 9 speed ally Trek for £30, just needs a clean and service, it was missing a saddle which we had in our box of bits, we’ll sort it out and flip it.

Decreased a chain by taking it off and shaking it in an old plastic bottle with methylated spirits, then rinse with muc off and water.

Now that was easy! I am going to put kmc quick links on all our bikes

@Gunk - is that a red Superstar rear wheel? If you were closer you could have had a matching front off me.
