Can anyone tell me more about my Raleigh Super Record mixte from this serial #? NOK3697

View attachment 687560

That's a 3, in better light. TIA
Nobody? The serial#, NOK3697, doesn't seem to follow the templates I've found online. I'm hoping to find out when it was manufactured, and what might have been on it originally. The color might be Royal Carmine, maybe? I found one on ebay that suggests it was made in Japan, had 27x1-1/4 wheels, and a 5-speed cluster, with Raleigh-branded Suntour components. Item /itm/234998390475 if interested. Perhaps I've answered my own question...

On my recent ride from Leicestershire to Shropshire my bike developed a rattle coming from the front end. My initial thought was loose spoke so at the cafe stop I gave the spokes the once over and all ok nothing obvious. So finished my ride ,on holiday with minimum tools so didn't want to start messing too much . I had adjusted the headset a week ago as it developed a bit of play ,Have I messed that up ? . Gave it a good visual inspection and checked for play nothing . So I rode the bike around with the rattle over every pot hole of which there was loads . When loading the bike into the car for the journey home I had to remove my front axle and discovered the removable lever was loose back home out the wheel back on tighten everything up and the bikes quiet

I found this nice thick cowhide pouch at the thrift store the other day for $7.00. Mounted it on my Ruff Tango bike.

I built up a CF Giant Trance Advanced for my son about 5 years ago and he’s now outgrown it, it’s sat in the garage unused for the last couple of years so I got it down and went right through it, It was all pretty good apart from a knackered headset

being a cheapskate I tried to service the bearings but once disassembled they were beyond repair, I popped some new ones in and decided it deserved a bit of bling (found this in my box of bits!)

Back on the wall now, it fits me. so I’m going to take it over and enjoy it over the summer. It’s a great bike to ride, you still can’t beat an old 26er!

Not shown in the photos is a longer Specialized seat post I also fitted, the bike now fits me perfectly.

@Jameshow hope the weather holds. Monday does look wet so my plans are changing as well. Kettlewell to Hawes gives you three routes, all involve a big hill so good luck! BTW is the chain ok on that picture?

Bike set up with panniers and tent ready for mini tour tomorrow to kettlewell and beyond. Weather is poor Monday so may not go over to hawes / argasyth??

You need flip over your QR lever, should always be facing upwards

Seatpost stuck on my Surly. Been squirting Plusgas on it for a while. Tried turning the saddle- nope. Removed it and clamped a bit of studding in the clamp, tried levering it with an old seat post. Got out the hammer and gave it some whacks. Finally removed the BB, it was hard to remove of course. Squirted Plusgas from that end. I don't think it will work but it's the only option I can try at home (nothing to clamp the seatpost in). Needs a major service, time to replace whole transmission- although it's all working well so I might let it wear a bit more.

I’ve removed them by stripping the bike, putting the seatpost in a vice and using the frame as leverage.
