Seatpost, pedals, derailleur jockey wheels, mudguard…….

Hoping to get mucky and start wearing out the recent replacements tomorrow 👌

That is a a haul of loveliness!

Thanks. SWMBO commented that the restoration projects I do help my enthusiasm for recycling.

@sevenfourate - I picked up one of those recently as well. Definitely impressed and better than their 800 without the size and weight of their 1100.

That’s really great to hear. Being an early-bird rider - with the first portion of my rides often in the dark: i probably need a decent light more than I realised. Hence the purchase.

That’s for the affirmation ! I’m quite excited for my first dark ride now…..

I bought a BSA30 bottom bracket so I could get my LBS to fit an old Quarq Riken power meter crankset to my DIY 6-speed bike, which they did yesterday. The Quarq was a gift from my cousin when he upgraded to a newer model.

I am getting set up to start using Zwift. I have a JetBlack Victory smart trainer on order but that is (or will be) on the slow boat from Vietnam so I won't get it until mid-February...

Meanwhile, I bought an Apple TV box to run Zwift on my old TV. Here is a test...

I also bought some replacement backlight strips to fit to the TV to get rid of the purple splodge at the bottom of the screen!

The latest purchase is a JetBlack 'smart turn riser block'. They were originally about £100, which is way more than I would have paid, but I saw it on offer for around £25 and got another £2 off with an ebay coupon code.

A new SRAM Apex crankset and bottom bracket for the sort of price that makes you think there must be something dodgy about it - but no, it's just been in storage for some time and I guess more people prefer Shimano. I only need the cranks, spider & BB so should easily get my money back & more by selling off the unwanted chainrings and the crankset & BB it will be replacing next year.

I've gone a bit nuts today. I've been sort of half shopping for a gravel bike recently, and today I decided a more sensible way to get one was to convert my ancient Mercian touring bike into one. It's already got 650b wheels and reasonably beefy tyres, so I've bought a nice secondhand Ultegra/105 10 X 2 groupset for it. I've also given my fixed wheel a clean and treated it to a new back wheel, which I'll build myself on a Miche Primato track hub and Mavic OpenPro rim. Then I also found a pair of Campag/Mavic 9 speed wheels at a price I couldn't refuse, and a front dynamo wheel to match. And some Campag 9 speed shifters. I'm staying away from eBay for a bit.

Congrats ! Sounds like it’s going to be ace 😍 Can’t wait to see it converted and out in its home……

I have a shed full of bikes in every shape or form I could possibly desire, as well as about eight in the house and four frames waiting to be built up with the boxful of bits in the shed.
As long as you can name a specific purpose for every specific bike and as long as every bike is ridden once in a while...

As a former Unix sysadmin in a productive environment I know that a working redundancy is key for a more relaxed life. Sometimes there is no time to get a particular bike ready for the planned ride on a specific day. If you can grab another bike with similar riding characteristics - that's quite good.

Yes, I agree. Arguably, if the offer is accepted, this will be a faster racier alternative to my Mercian gravel tourer. But there's really no getting away from the fact that 18 bikes is probably too many.
