Starting a disaster of a Gudereit city bike. Are these common in the UK? The bike looks like it's been ridden in all weathers then stored in a cowshed for a decade. The parts are very good though so I'm hoping it'll be a nice bike once the grime is sorted.

The cable on the Nexus 8 gear hub is broken so I've made a wooden jig for measuring the new one to the correct 101mm length between securing crimp and cable.

A nice new headlight.

well… a fifty or more year old headlight, but still brand new in the box and as it’s about the same age as the bike it does sorta suit it! I’m quite pleased.

I had one of those dynamo lights on my bike as a teenager - which was about 50 years ago.

That's a "posh" bike for those days, with 10 gears! Mine only had 5.

Yeah, posh when it was new, but now worth little. I got the old girl off of the scrap heap at a bike shop I was working at. It was missing its fenders, seat and seat post but was otherwise rideable. I lucked out finding the correct seatpost, right down to the date code, at a used bike parts emporium. Very comfy and fast, it was made by Panasonic in Japan.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Whilst on holiday I picked up a few tyres cheaply; a Hutchinson Fusion 5 for a pair of wheels which use them, a pair of 27 1/4" tyres for the Carlton Franco-Suisse and a Continental GP5000 ST R plus a set of AbsoluteBlack crank bolt covers and some Castelli toe warmers. Also picked up some wheel rim strips and a BB for the NeilPryde as the ones I have won't fit.

Oh, and a bike, collected this evening. It's an own-branded tourer from Two Wheels Good in Leeds needing work. If the frame logos are original it'll date from 1982-89. Rusty chain, rust on part of the frame / paint work, front derailleur rusty, but otherwise seems OK. I'd posted the link a couple of weeks ago in the Vintage & Classic section - https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/e...-know-if-you-see-something.93126/post-7235974

But what caught my eye was this logo in the eBay photo set:

I'll give it a proper look-over in the next few days.

I have 2 10-speed SRAM chains on order. The old one on my CAAD5 is worn to about 0.75%. I already have another worn to 0.75% stashed away. I think I will let the new one wear to about the same then start swapping between the 3 once a month until the cassette and/or chainrings need replacing then fit the second new chain.

A pawhut dog trailer.

I've had and tried a Burley Tail Wagon, a box on my Carry Freedom, tried getting a cargo rack for my Circe Tandem but the big doggo has new means of transport. Hopefully this one is more his style.

That looks nice.
Are you going to have to change hitches to switch between the Carry Freedom trailer and the paw hut trailer, or will they both work with the same hitch?

Edit: just taken a look, going to be a different hitch

I have ordered a Techalogic DC-2 Pro camera. The only downside is that the GPS module is an optional extra and requires running a power bank. Just thinking through how I could make that work, in terms of where do I put the module/power bank and how I keep moisture away from them.

I very rarely ever use the CF trailer, currently the hitch is on my fat bike and the other on the tandem. For the dog trailer I'm going to put the hitch on my ebike to see if that opens up new possibilities for me and the pooch.

Having not really bought much recently, I need some bits for an up-coming bike packing trip, so some small pans, cutlery, two new water bottles, some Ortlieb spares/clips to better handle off road loads, cargo net (for tent/air bed/ drying damp gear) oh, and some 'P'-Clips to bodge a fit for my rack to the CX bike. The 'specialist' stuff from SJS, of course, and pots from Amazon.

I'm really enjoying my cycling this year. And if i'm not going to do too many road miles in Winter (Doesn't truly interest me per-se unles its a dry, crisp kinda day) - then what i am going to do is get out for an hour or two at the weekend and get mucky on the local trails.

I have this Morning also bought another complete 'Puncture kit' [Tubes, Park-Tool patches, Co2 inflation kit etc), a Camelbak, some Fox full fingered Trail type gloves, another CatEye light set (Just means i have one staying on each bike.....so no faffing around swapping), some DMR V8 pedals and some quality Lock-on grips.

And breathe......
