The Wicker Man; I love that film.
Saw it the 1st time back in the 80s. Loved the weirdness of Summerisle; the feeling: "what the hell is going on?" as the story evolves towards that shocking ending.
Watched it again 20 years ago on a special edition DVD, and again tonight on iplayer. Looked like a nicely restored version.

Am still resisting the temptation to see the Nicholas Cage remake.

They put in the ugliest, biggest bottom in the world. Mine was much smaller and much nicer. Britt Eckland.

Hell or High Water, on Netflix
Jeff Bridges plays a soon to retire, gnarly, Texts Ranger with a healthy pee taking personality, on the trail of two bank robbing brothers, each with quite different motives and personalities.
Really good, well worth a watch. A neo western I saw it described as...the description fits it well.

Pathetic. You're just not trying.

There must have been SOME difference from the book that spoiled it for you!

Personally I found reading a book then watching the film will often lead to disappointment.
When you read a book, the lines are written but you create the character within that. We might all create that character quite differently...and sometimes, the film doesn't portray that character in the way you did.....thus disappointment

My imagination usually outperforms the director's*. Or maybe it's just the technical and budget limits restraining the director's output.

*IMHO

The Equalizer 3:
Where Denzel Washington continues his quest to equalize things, like your expectations for a third installment. This time, he's equalizing the remote control by making sure you press the 'pause' button to appreciate his intense stares. It's a thrilling film where Denzel fights injustice and your desire for a more plausible plot simultaneously. Equal parts action and eyebrow-raising, this movie is the hero we didn't know we needed but are still not entirely sure we deserve. Grab your pot of Hagen Daaz and prepare for the equalization of your disbelief!

From the the book My Word is my Bond.
"Then there was singer Grace Jones, who was cast as May-Day. I've always said if you've nothing nice to say about someone, then you should say nothing. So I'll say nothing."
