Highlander, again.
it’s brilliant.

It's the only film that i went back the the cinema the very next night to watch it again... brilliant movie!

Highlander 2, on the other hand... what were they thinking?

Extended Edition? It has some little extra scenes like how Connor meets Rachel (he kills nazis - yay!). I bought the behind the scenes book a while back, fascinating stuff like how Connery recorded the intro speech in his bathroom which is why it sounds echoey.
...
Surely that's in the original edit?

If done well it can probably benefit from a reboot. modern CGI and special effects will make it look better, but it must retain elements of the original story.
You’ve got to say they are unlikely to better the sound track, which is pretty good.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Awesome, Indy kills Nazis, rescues his dad and drops the evil girl down a hole. Great stuff.

I was thinking how well these films have aged; but it shouldn't be surprising, when Temple of Doom was created by Harrison Ford, Steve Spielberg and George flippin Lucas! I started checking the credits and found that
Pat Roach - who in our house is known as "Bomber" from Auf Wiedersehen - played several minor baddies in Indiana' movies (as well as a host of other quite big films https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Roach#Filmography ). these include possibly the best death scene this kid ever saw at the cinema!

Best of the whole bunch for me a good 9/10. Another one out this year I think, bet its not a good as the original.

I've never quite understood the adoration that Highlander gets. In fact, here are 150 better films

2 things for me -
  1. Queen did the soundtrack. Their 'Its a Kind of Magic' album is the unofficial OST to the film
  2. Its Swords and Soucery style film. There really arn't that many good films that are what I'd call 'ye olde fashioned swashbuckler film' with magic and swordplay involved. Certainly in modern cinema theres very few and far between of those types of films, though Dungeons and Dragons (last year) was pretty good.

Anaconda - 6/10

Everyone apart from John Voight is playing this like it's not a B Movie which makes it even sillier and more fun. Apparently the animatronic snake short circuited, went berserk and they kept the footage in the film: brilliant.

Hell in The Pacific 1968

John Boorman film, Lee Marvin & Toshiro Mifune play 'Enemy Mine' on a desert island. Somewhat ironic as both served in the Pacific in WW2.
